The International Space Station (ISS) can currently be seen in the night sky over Bremen. The satellite flies from west to east and reaches its greatest height roughly in the south. It takes about five minutes for the passage. In our program "The current starry sky"we give specific tips for your own observations.

There are two things to consider when specifying the time:
1.The air friction is quite considerable at a height of approx. 400 km, so that the overflight times change significantly over time. The older the 2-line elements with which the times are calculated, the greater the possible deviations.
2.Because of the friction mentioned above, the ISS is gradually sinking. Therefore the trajectory is corrected again from time to time. These changes can only be determined afterwards.
If the dates are not too old, the ISS should be visible around the time indicated - sometimes it is also delayed.
